How to Send a Digital Scan to Your Dental Lab

28 May 2026

If your practice is scanning, sending cases to your lab is faster, cleaner and more predictable than posting impressions — no packaging, no posting delays, and no distortion in transit. If you’ve not connected to us digitally yet, here’s how, whichever scanner you use.

iTero

Send your case to our Lab ID and it lands with us directly through MyiTero. If you’re not sure of the ID or it isn’t showing in your list, just give us a quick call and we’ll get you set up in a couple of minutes.

Medit

Connect through Medit Link and search for “Bridge Dental Laboratory” to add us as a partner lab. Once we’re linked, sending a case is a couple of clicks.

3Shape

Send via 3Shape Communicate to our practice account, or export and email us the file — whichever is easier for your workflow.

Any other scanner

Almost every scanner can export an open file. Export as STL, PLY or OBJ and email it to info@bridgedentallab.com. If you’re not sure how to export, your scanner’s support pages will show you, or we can talk you through it.

A few tips for a clean scan

Most remakes come down to the same handful of things, and they’re all easy to avoid:

  • Capture clear margins. Retract soft tissue and make sure the margin is dry and visible before you scan it.
  • Watch for moisture and bubbles. Saliva and blood read as part of the surface, so keep the field dry.
  • Get the bite right. Scan the occlusion in maximum intercuspation and check it’s seated before you save.
  • Add a note. A quick line about the appliance, material and shade saves a phone call and speeds your case up.

What happens next

Once your scan reaches us, our technicians design and make the appliance, and every order comes with free 3D-printed models. You’ll get accurate work back on a fast turnaround — and if you’re new to sending us digital cases, your first appliance comes with £20 off using the code FIRSTSCAN.
