Team Mouthguards: How Club and School Orders Actually Work
Getting one player into a custom gumshield is straightforward. Getting a whole squad into matching ones sounds like a logistical headache — which is why a lot of clubs never get round to it, and players turn up in boil-and-bite guards that half of them have stopped wearing.
In practice it comes down to four steps.
1. Tell us about the squad
Rough numbers, your colours, and whether you want a crest or player names. You do not need final numbers to start — an approximate squad size is enough for us to come back with a quote and a 3D design proof so you can see how the guards will look in your kit colours before committing.
2. Impressions or scans
This is the part people expect to be hardest, and it is the only step that genuinely needs organising. Because every guard is made to fit an individual mouth, we need an upper-arch impression or intraoral scan for each player.
Most teams arrange these through their own dentist. If you are organising a large group — a whole year group, say — and that is awkward, get in touch early and we will talk you through the easiest way to handle it for your situation.
3. We make and match
Every guard in the order is fabricated to the same design and specification, so the squad looks consistent rather than a patchwork of near-misses. We work from a range of over 30 EVA colours, combined in fades, stripes and splits to suit your kit.
Crests, logos, names, initials and squad numbers are all standard options. Worth knowing: graphics sit on or between the layers, so personalisation never comes at the cost of protection.
4. Posted out, labelled per player
The finished order is posted anywhere in the UK, labelled per player so you are not standing in a changing room trying to work out whose is whose.
Why clubs bother with custom
The honest case for doing this as a team rather than leaving it to individuals:
- They actually get worn. A guard that fits properly and looks like the team’s kit is far more likely to be in a player’s mouth than a generic one that moves around. A mouthguard that stays in the bag protects nobody.
- Consistency. Everyone is protected to the same standard, rather than depending on which parent bought what.
- It is easier to organise once. One order, one quote, one delivery — rather than chasing individuals all season.
- Discounts start from 10 guards and improve with quantity, so squads, year groups and whole clubs all qualify.
Start earlier than feels necessary
The one piece of advice worth repeating: start before the season does. The making is quick; collecting impressions from twenty-odd players is what takes the time. Clubs that come to us in good time get their squad kitted out comfortably; clubs that come to us the week before a fixture are the ones we have to have an awkward conversation with.
